Tuesday, Dec. 11
Psychiatry faculty to give GWIMS talk on powering will

Dr. Danny Burgess, associate professor of psychiatry and human behavior, will give the Group on Women in Medicine and Science's "Connect - Share - Advance" presentation, "Powering Your Will: Changing How You Change," at noon on Tuesday, Dec. 11, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.

Tenn anatomy prof to discuss blood flow, retinal health

Dr. Anton Reiner, professor of anatomy and neurobiology at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Memphis, will give the Neurobiology and Anatomical Sciences Seminar Series presentation, "Neural Control of Choroidal Blood Flow and Retinal Health," from noon-1 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11, in classroom 3A (room N318 on the North Wing).

Surgery chair to present Department of Surgery Grand Rounds

Dr. Christopher D. Anderson, professor and chair of surgery, will give the Department of Surgery Grand Rounds presentation from 8-9 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, in room CW 106 of the Classroom Wing.

Schwartz Rounds to offer gratitude stories, holiday hope

Doris Whitaker, pastoral services director, will facilitate the Schwartz Center Rounds discussion, "Hope for the Holidays: UMMC Stories of Hope and Gratitude," from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, in room CW106 of the Classroom Wing.

Nikki Cohran, nurse manager; Vickie Skinner, continuing health professional education director; and Nikki Johnson and Ryan Johnson, UMMC patients, also will speak during the event.

Physiology instructor to target cyclase preeclampsia treatment

Dr. Bhavisha Bakrania, instructor in physiology and biophysics, will present the Department of Physiology and Biophysics seminar, "Soluble Guanylate Cyclase as a Target for the Treatment of Preeclampsia: sGC Stimulators and Activators," from noon-1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.

Preventive medicine expert to cook up stress-free holiday tips

Dr. Josie Bidwell, associate professor of medicine in the Department of Preventive Medicine, will give the UMMC Everyday Wellness presentation, "Cook Up a Stress-free Holiday," from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, in classroom R354 (upper amphitheatre).

Dr. Keith R. Berend of Joint Implant Surgeons, Inc., in New Albany, Ohio, will give the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery/Mississippi Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center presentation, "Outpatient Arthroplasty: A Better Mousetrap," at 7 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 11, in room CW308 of the Classroom Wing.

Dr. Quinn Capers of the Ohio State University College of Medicine will give the Office of Diversity and Inclusion's Distinguished Lecture Series presentation, "Diversity Enhancement in Medicine: More Than a Good Idea - A Life and Death Imperative," from noon-1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 17, in classroom R-153 (lower amphitheatre).
